Jon Elsen, founder and president of Elsen Strategies and a senior advisor to MBS Value Partners, has decades of experience in communications and journalism. As a former editor at The New York Times and The New York Post, he understands what messages resonate with the media, the markets, the public and others.

Jon has been a key strategist during national and international crises, litigation, high-profile executive changes and proxy fights – on both offense and defense.  He has provided media and crisis-management training and written op-eds, shareholder letters, and employee memos to both public and private companies.

Previously, Jon was an advisor at Kekst and Company and The Abernathy MacGregor Group, and a long-time journalist.

Jon served as news editor at NYTimes.com and as the media and marketing editor in the Business Section. At The New York Post, he was a reporter and columnist before being named the business editor, a post he held for five years. He was a writer and editor at Investment Dealer’s Digest, where he was nominated to The Journalist & Financial Reporting blue-chip newsroom.

Jon was also a regular contributor to the Fox News Channel, and has appeared on CNBC, CNN, and the Don Imus show. His work has appeared in Vanity Fair and The New York Times Book Review.

Jon has a B.A. in history from Columbia University.
